What does Nielsen PreView provide? Nielsen PreView provides its members industry specific research on a cost effective basis. As a Nielsen PreView member, YOU vote or comment on research topics, and WE in turn link, model and analyze vast Nielsen data sources to provide you a shared resource of insight and direction.
The Nielsen Company has so many data assets. How do you determine which to use? Being a part of The Nielsen Company allows Nielsen PreView to have access to some of the world's leading experts and largest global data sources - measuring consumer's movie, music, TV, Internet and book preferences, as well as consumer product purchasing and lifestyle behavior. Depending on which study topic voted upon by members, we determine which Nielsen data sources are best to combine and utilize. Given the breadth and depth of Nielsen services it can be an arduous task to know which combination of services will serve an industry challenge best. We take the guess-work out and enable our members to focus on industry solutions.
What do you mean members get to vote? On the NielsenPreView.com site, we enable Nielsen PreView members to let us know ‘what keeps them up at night?’ Based on the majority feedback, we create ongoing new insights and learnings leveraging the many informational assets of Nielsen.
Are these really NEW learning, or can I find these on the web OR from my current Nielsen service? The learnings and insights contained within our member studies are unique and NEW, and not found elsewhere.
Does Nielsen PreView focus on addressing all industry challenges? Nielsen PreView’s initial focus is to address the needs of the entertainment community and those industry challenges facing this group on a daily basis.
What are the membership benefits? As a member, you receive insight and learning applicable to current business challenges. The insight and learning is provided in four distinct ways: member reports, industry briefs, case studies/interview and Nielsen 101. New material is added on an ongoing weekly basis and is flagged as ‘new’ for your convenience. Standard/Free membership allows access to some of our research, while premium membership allows full access to ALL Nielsen PreView studies, most importantly our member research.
How is “member research” differentiated from other types of studies? Member research is distinguished from other Nielsen PreView studies in three ways:
- Members determine which topics will be addressed.
- The member studies tend to incorporate a wider array of Nielsen services.
- The information contained within is typically the result of advanced and proprietary modeling techniques.
Am I eligible to become a Nielsen PreView member, even if I’m not a current Nielsen client? YES. Whether you are a studio, start-up, advertiser, graduate student or agency - any one with an interest in or are involved with the creation, financing, production, marketing and distribution of entertainment will have an interest in joining our entertainment community.
Why is there a fee for Premium status? Particularly for current paying Nielsen clients? The topics being addressed on Nielsen PreView require significant modeling and analysis across millions of Nielsen data points. In essence, we are creating a NEW data set that is not redundant to any other Nielsen service. A Nielsen PreView study commissioned on a custom one-off basis would cost any one client tens of thousands of dollars. Nielsen PreView provides its members a tool to share in both the industry research and the cost.

How is this service differentiated from other Nielsen products and services? For a small business it’s not always financially feasible to acquire multiple data sources. And, for a large company it’s not always efficient to integrate and analyze disparate external data sources. What Nielsen PreView provides to both small and large businesses alike, is a shared and integrated research resource that provides insights and directional guidance.
